Ankeny Anti-Human Trafficking Training

There was a training in Ankeny last weekend with 105 in attendance. Here’s a brief summary, written by Brenda Long:
“On Feb 25, 2017, Heartland Church in Ankeny, IA opened its doors to Brenda Long and the team at Garden Gate Ranch* to host a panel discussion and a time of Q&A with six amazing professionals in Iowa. Included as panelists were Mike Ferjak (retired law enforcement and Chair of CISN), Celine Villongco (HT Coordinator of Iowa), Ruth Buckels (AMP, YSS, foster parent of victims/survivors), Kelly Saull (Braking Traffik), Joy Fopma (Wings of Refuge) and Kristina Glackin (survivor and spoken word poet). The attendance of 105 warmly welcomed and received each panelist as they shared their experience in their area of expertise. Brenda Long and the team at Garden Gate Ranch were very pleased with the turnout especially considering we were in a snow storm only hours before. Everything we do to educate the public we believe is a step closer to stopping human trafficking and changing the mindset around this issue in our state. If we help to save just one, it is worth all we do. Garden Gate Ranch’s motto is ‘For The Love Of One.’

*Garden Gate Ranch is a non-denominational, faith-based organization in central Iowa dedicated to providing assistance, resources, and training for sexually exploited young women. In Phase 1, we will be providing immediate shelter and basic needs. In Phase 2, we will have a home in a rural setting for young women with their children or expecting mothers. Our desire is to see them through a time of restoration and transition.”
